Inside each session

Module by module

Every session follows the same four-part arc — shift mindsets, plant new convictions, spark new perspectives, inspire action — then breaks into four short modules and a Q&A. Open a session below to see both. Workshops 01 to 04 are the four we recommend starting with.

“I’m not the creative one on the team.”

Creativity gets treated as a personality trait — something some people have and the rest of us watch. This session takes that apart and rebuilds creativity as a set of habits: noticing, questioning, experimenting. Participants practise them on work that is already in front of them.

What this session sets out to do
Shift Mindsets
Challenge the belief that creativity belongs only to designers and artists.
Plant New Convictions
Build confidence in everyone’s ability to generate ideas and solve problems creatively.
Spark New Perspectives
Discover how small changes in observation, questioning and experimentation can lead to fresh ideas.
Inspire Action
Identify one everyday challenge and explore a creative approach to solving it.

“The deck was finished at 2am. Nobody remembered a single slide.”

Most presentation problems are thinking problems wearing a design costume. This session starts with the message rather than the template, then shows how structure, storytelling and a few restrained design decisions carry that message to an audience.

What this session sets out to do
Shift Mindsets
Move beyond thinking of presentations as slides to fill, and see them as ideas to communicate.
Plant New Convictions
Recognise that clear, effective presentations come from strong thinking and structure, not just attractive visuals.
Spark New Perspectives
Explore how storytelling, visual hierarchy and simple design choices can make complex ideas easier to understand.
Inspire Action
Identify one way to improve an upcoming presentation by making its message clearer and more purposeful.

Structure That Carries an ArgumentApply a simple narrative structure to information the group brings to the session.20 min

Fix One Real SlideParticipants rework a slide from a presentation they have coming up.20 min
Q&AOpen Q&A and discussion.10 min

Takeaway: A clear message, a structure that carries it, and one slide fixed before you leave the room.

“Same phone, same place. So why do their photos look better?”

Phone cameras are already good. The gap is rarely the device — it is where you stand, what you leave out, and which way the light is falling. Everything in this session is done on the phone already in the room.

What this session sets out to do
Shift Mindsets
See smartphone photography as more than taking snapshots — it is a way to tell stories and communicate ideas.
Plant New Convictions
Build confidence in taking better photographs with the phone already in your pocket.
Spark New Perspectives
Discover how composition, lighting, angles and perspective can transform ordinary subjects into compelling images.
Inspire Action
Apply one or two simple photography techniques to capture a more engaging image in everyday life or at work.

Takeaway: Composition, light and perspective applied on your own phone, with photos to prove it.

“It was made in Canva. And you can tell it was made in Canva.”

Templates are a starting point, not an answer. This session covers the handful of decisions — layout, colour, typography, imagery — that separate a template someone filled in from a visual that actually communicates.

What this session sets out to do
Shift Mindsets
Move beyond using templates as they are, and see Canva as a tool for communicating ideas with purpose.
Plant New Convictions
Build confidence in creating attractive, effective visuals without needing professional design skills.
Spark New Perspectives
Explore how layout, colour, typography and imagery influence what people notice, understand and remember.
Inspire Action
Identify one visual communication task and apply a practical design improvement using Canva.

Make It Clearer, Not BusierGroup review focused on what to take out rather than what to add.20 min
Q&AOpen Q&A and discussion.10 min

Takeaway: Four design decisions you can apply to any visual, and one piece of work improved in Canva.

Enquire Now
“If AI can generate it in seconds, what exactly am I being paid for?”

An honest look at what AI has genuinely absorbed, what it has not, and where the value of a designer has moved rather than disappeared. The session is built around judgement, taste, framing the problem and taking responsibility for the result.

What this session sets out to do
Shift Mindsets
Move past the question of whether AI replaces designers, and look at which parts of design work have actually changed.
Plant New Convictions
Recognise that judgement, taste and problem framing become more valuable, not less, as production becomes cheaper.
Spark New Perspectives
Explore where AI output falls short — context, intent and accountability — and how designers fill those gaps.
Inspire Action
Identify one part of your own practice to strengthen, and one task worth handing to AI.
The 90 minutes, module by module
ModuleHands-on activityTime
What AI Actually TookSeparate the production work AI does well from the judgement it does not.15 min
Where the Value MovedFraming, taste and decision-making, through before-and-after examples.20 min
Working With It, Not Against ItParticipants run a brief through AI and critique the output as designers.25 min
Your Next Six MonthsEach person names one skill to deepen and one task worth delegating.20 min
Q&AOpen Q&A and discussion.10 min

Takeaway: A clear-eyed view of where your value sits now, one skill to deepen and one task to hand over.

Many organisations restrict AI tools on work devices, and some agencies restrict internet access on them entirely. We kept hearing this, so we curated a series of sessions that run entirely on participants’ own phones. No company device, no network access, no IT request.

  • QR-accessible templates and frameworks from the session
  • A digital workbook to download and keep
  • Activities using non-confidential examples, public information or realistic scenarios
